Women as Peacemakers: The Feminine Aspect of Peacemaking

Does gender balance have an influence on creating peace, and do women have a special role to play? What is the vital and often underestimated role that women play as peacemakers in our world? By exploring historical examples, contemporary efforts, and negotiated treaties, we will highlight the feminine role in building bridges, fostering empathy, and creating sustainable harmony, exploring the archetypal strengths women offer to peacemaking.
Studies show that societies with more gender balance have less conflict and spend less on defense. When women are part of peace negotiations, then peace lasts longer and is more accepted by the people.
Yet out of 109 Nobel Peace Prizes, only 18 have been women. How do we bring more women into the peace process?
